Spotlight on: Ngoc Phan

International Cultural Service Program (ICSP) Scholar.

To help you get to know us a little better, we are going to focus on one member of our International Student Life family at PSU every week.  This week, we have chosen Ngoc Phan, a scholar in our International Cultural Service Program.

Phan Ngoc

Ngoc was born and raised in a small family with three girls and her parents.  Coming from a diverse background, she has a deep appreciation of all aspects of literature, history, cultures, politics, food, social taboos etc.  When away from school, Ngoc likes hanging out with friends, volunteering, hiking, cooking and enjoying time skype-ing with her family.  Ngoc is fascinated to share her culture with audiences of all ages.

Ngoc came to the United State in summer 2006 to fulfill her dream of becoming a dentist.  She loves all aspects of science and arts.  Ngoc majors in Micro/Molecular biology with a minor in Chemistry. In the future, she would love to find the fulfillment in the practice of dentistry and to give others the beautiful smiles they are proud to wear.

Ngoc is thankful for being a part of the ICSP family. It is the best honor she has ever received in her student life as an international student.

Monday, November 15th-Friday, December 31st, East Hall West Corridor (1st Floor)

The International Student Life Team invites you to "Colorful Memories" an exhibition featuring paintings by Lewis (Lewie) Lytal.  Lytal was a self-taught artist who used a variety of skills including forging, welding, and casing, to make his art.  His aesthetics came from an assortment of objects, symbols, and metaphors that he latched onto and used in association with personal dilemma and vision.  This exhibit gives you an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide and honors International Education Week, which occurs on November 15-19th.  "Colorful Memories" will remain on display until the end of the year.

If you are an artist who would like to display your artwork in the East Hall West Corridor, please contact Anna at gindlea@pdx.edu for more details.
